With Darryl Strawberry
Your Life’s Not Gonna Be About Baseball
It’s World Series week, and forty years ago this Tuesday, Darryl Strawberry homered in Game 7 of the 1986 World Series for the New York Mets.
This week he joins Dr. Jack Graham and Jeremiah Johnston, PhD, on Hold the Pattern. Strawberry played seventeen seasons, won four World Series, and saw his No. 18 retired. He also lived through addiction, prison, and cancer. Today he is an evangelist who preaches in churches and prisons.
Years before he knew the Lord, his Mets teammate Gary Carter told him in spring training: “You think it’s about baseball, but your life’s not gonna be about baseball. God’s gonna use you.”
Strawberry never forgot it.
So, enjoy the Series. Then hear from a man who has won it four times about what matters
more.
